Holiday Floral Sales Drop, PMA Survey Shows
Wednesday, June 10th, 2009People give flowers for many reasons. Fresh flowers that may come in many forms and arrangement are mostly given during special occasions such as birthdays, Mother’s day, Valentines day and holiday season, among others.
ProgressiveGrocer.com reports that floral sales during the holiday season last year registered a slight drop. This was disclosed by a survey conducted by Produce Marketing Association (PMA) wherein over 60 percent of respondents admitted they did not meet their sales expectations. The decline was said to be due in part to bad weather and people’s concern about the economy.
Hopefully, 2008 will be a better year for the floral industry despite the not-so-bright outlook for the US economy this year.
